Sega Sammy has released the company’s Fiscal Year Ending March 2024 (consisting of April 2023 to March 2024) Q4 financial results today. As with previous earnings reports, Sega has outlined the sales of their tentpole series, including Persona.

According to the financial results, the Persona series sold approximately 2.39 million units worldwide (including digital and physical sales) in January, February, and March 2024. This is in large part due to the release of Persona 3 Reload on February 2nd, which was the fastest selling Atlus title in the company’s history.

This makes for a total of 5.06 million copies sold of the Persona series in the Fiscal Year ended March 2024. 630k copies were sold between April and June 2023, 750k between July and September 2023, and 1.3 million sold between October and December 2023.

The Persona series has been experiencing a consistent level of growth year-to-year:
  • April 2021 to March 2022: 1.3 million copies sold worldwide
  • April 2022 to March 2023: 3.27 million copies sold worldwide (+1.97 million copies compared to previous year)
  • April 2023 to March 2024: 5.06 million copies sold worldwide (+1.79 million copies compared to previous year)

Previous Persona Sales Milestones

In March 2024, Atlus announced that the Persona series had sold over 22 million units worldwide. As of December 2023, the Persona 5 series (including Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight) has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

Could PlayStation have a dip in numbers/sells with future titles after the release of ghost of Tsushima on pc? They said all future titles after that would require a psn account, which it nor PlayStation exist in 117 (chief?) countries. So they themselves are artificial reducing their reach, on PC.

Both have had huge hardware declines this quarter, likely spurred by the very high pricing of hardware versus how far into the gen we are.

PlayStation still has higher total quarterly revenue than Xbox and Activision Blizzard King combined; $7bn for PlayStation and $5.45bn for Xbox ($3.5bn without ABK). Means PS revenue is 28% higher than Xbox and ABK combined. 100% higher without ABK included.

4.5m #PS5 were sold in Q4, 20.8m in FY2023, making 59.3m total LTD.

PS5 hardware sales near enough matched the revised 21m target, though Sony expects PS5 sales to decline to 18 million in FY24.

People still trying to do the but if you take out Activision spin.
MS own them. It's included no matter how much people want to ignore it.
People trying to pretend xbox is just fine because they went and bought a company that is successful to cover for the one they've been running into the ground.

Yes MS owns ABK now, PlayStation is still making more money than Xbox without having to spend $70 billion to make the books look better.

Everyone knows this is one of the reasons MS bought them.
They never tried to keep that secret and talked about it in interviews and court.
It's not some dark secret.

I don't think there is anything wrong with people giving context as to how the business is going with/without ABK.

It's pointless because they are.
But accounts like NIB will still be doing it in a year because they have to make it a negative.

Would they be taking AB out of this is Sony owned them? Course not.
