Finally saw X-Men Apocalypse. Once again, I find myself thinking the live action X-Men have become very underrated. Really ended up enjoying this in particular. Thinking back, there was controversy about how Apocalypse looked in the film, but his portrayal is really good. If I had any complaints, it'd be the bit where Xavier tries to beat Apocalypse telepathically, they show him getting in some punches, but then immediately gets crushed. Just seems a bit silly. Perhaps if they portrayed it as Xavier taking a risk instead of being super cocky, knowing he can't win by himself, then it might have come across better. I also am not a fan of Jean just going Phoenix right away. I know it's dormant power, and she's capable, but they never really show a scene where she shows that level of potential. I did like how they established her relationship with Wolverine so early, and show how much of a caring individual she is. It also seems pointless to have killed off Angel when everyone else survived.
All in all, good movie. Gonna watch Dark Phoenix next.
